Hello, everyone! I hope you've all been well and are bracing for another round of winter. However, I am encouraged that spring is just around the corner because I saw a gopher yesterday in Strathmore.

BTG has loads of events planned, so please get your calendars out and kindly register with me ASAP for any sessions that interest you:

Cooking for One (or Two) in the County - We have four of these workshops planned out in the County. We will be in Hussar next Thursday, March 5, at 1 pm at the Sundowners, in Carseland at the Jetsetters on Tuesday, March 24, at 1 pm and in Standard on April 9, at the Young At Hearts at 1 pm. Our Rockyford date is TBD.

I will have lots of great resources and recipes to share, as well as a really nice little coil-bound cookbook to give away. We will also be making some master mixes for everyone to take home, taking the guesswork out of making four biscuits or a single pancake for example, or a single serving of dessert. Please register with me soon so I know how many to prepare for. Free event for those 55+.

Functional Fitness with Julie Meier - This will be a great day, learning some easy ways to keep fit so that you may enjoy everyday activities. You'll remember Julie from the Seniors' Conference and our pole walking demonstration. This event will begin at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, March 10, at the Strathmore Library Program Room. Please see the attached poster, and please register with me soon.

Free Matinee - These are always so much fun. And thanks to our friends Justin Hansen and Judy Forsyth at our local ATB, we get to have three free matinees this year! Thanks to them for their sponsorship. We will be showing 'The Bucket List' with Morgan Freeman and Jack Nicholson at Joyland Theatre on Thursday, March 19. Doors open at 12:30 pm and the show starts at 1 pm. Please remember to bring cash for popcorn and treats as the concession will be open.

Lunch Club - We are back at Lunch Club Tuesday, March 3 and 17. We are very lucky that we will have special guests on both those days: Strathmore FCSS will be on hand March 3 to explain what sorts of services they can provide for you, and then on March 17, Laura from the Library will be on hand to give us an overview of all the services the Library provides.

And don't forget:

5 For Life Book Sale -Friday and Saturday, March 6 and 7 at Hope Community Covenant Church. The sale runs from 1 - 6 pm on the Friday, and from 9 am to 3 pm on the Saturday.

Live Concerts from the Musical Arts Society - The Strathmore Musical Arts Society is planning several live music concerts, with a mouth-watering catered dinner — all for a very low price and right here in Strathmore. To view what they have planned and to purchase tickets, please use this link:https://strathmorearts.com/

They have a concert tomorrow, Saturday, February 28.

Collective Cooking in the County - Wheatland FCSS will be back out in the rural communities with a series  of very well priced collective cooking workshops, starting February 28 in Hussar. Please go to their website for the details and to register: COLLECTIVE COOKING - Wheatland Family & Community Support Services

Happy Gang Activities - Mark your calendars for May 22 and 23 for the Garage & Bake Sale; and the Strawberry Tea & Bake Sale, Tuesday, May 26, from 2 - 4 pm.

Strathmore United Church Activities -  April 17th & 18th, Vintage and Treasure Sale; Sept. 24 - 26th, 50th Thrift Sale! Wow!

Strathmore Women's Conference -  Get your tickets soon! Tickets will be $25 until March 1st and then starting March 2nd they will be $40. They can be purchased at the Strathmore Library, Strathmore FCSS, and Wheatland FCSS and online thru the WFCSS website. The theme for this year's event is 'Putting Your First!' Enjoy a full day of stimulating presentations, shopping, local exhibitors and a light lunch. Please go to their website to see the list of speakers and to purchase your online tickets. https://www.wfcss.org/2026-womens-conference.html

And don't forget that BTG has a new Facebook Page! Please follow us for our upcoming events and other items of interest. We are under 'Bridging the Gap - Strathmore & Wheatland County'.

That's it for this week, friends. I hope to see you out at some of these events — getting out, seeing others, and learning something new help make the winter seem shorter. I know seeing you make my days brighter!

Kindest regards,

STRATHMORE MUNICIPAL POLICING REPORT
QUARTER 4 and Year End Report

We are pleased to share the Policing Crime statistics for July as well as the year end Town and Rural Reports for in our area presented to the Executive by RCMP Liaison, Staff Sgt. Mark Wielgosz at our August meeting.  We were all pleased to note that crime rates have dropped but efforts continue to reduce vehicle theft.  The community is encouraged to report any unusual behaviour via the non-emergency number 403-934-3968.  You never know when the information may be of assistance!

Strathmore Country Garden Club, next meeting Tuesday 7:00pm December 2nd, Strathmore Legion Veterans Hall.
