Hello everyone, and happy Seniors' Week!

I hope you've been out enjoying the events in our community, all designed to say thank you for all you do for our community, and to let you know we treasure and value YOU! Please remember BTG and ATB are hosting our free seniors' matinee today at Joyland Theatre (please see the poster, and please plan to get there at 12:30 to get a seat). We are showing 'Secondhand Lions' with Robert Duvall and Michael Caine, and it's a good one! 

 

There is also a free Acoustic Jam Showcase TONIGHT, Thursday, June 4, from 6 - 8 pm at More Bulgogi (in the Wheatland Country Inn). You can sing along, play along, or even request a favourite. This is also your opportunity to get together with friends and enjoy some delicious food.

 

BTG Seniors' Week Door Prizes -I also have THREE free passes to the walking track (10 visits on each pass) to give away. Because I can't do a proper draw, and because I need to know that recipients will actually use them, please email me here if you are a user of the track would like a pass. The first three to email will each receive a pass.  Good luck!

 

New to Computers? Check out 'First Click' starting TONIGHT - There are a few spots available in the First Click Computer Program. The program is facilitated by the lovely Renee and Rhonda from SAIL and runs June 4 – July 23, every Thursday from 6:30 – 7:30 PM. No laptop? No problem, one will be provided if needed. Please call the Strathmore Library at 403-934-5335 to register. There is a fee; fee assistance is available. Check out the details on the poster.

 

D-Day Commemorative Service - This year marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day. Please join the Strathmore Royal Canadian  Legion on Saturday, June 6, from 10:30 - 11 am at the Cenotaph for a special service. All are welcome.

 

Free Community Concert with Elle McAndrews - Tuesday, June 9, at 1:30pm at Hope Community Covenant Church. Featuring the Music Discovery class with accredited music therapist, Kate Ager.

Music Discovery encourages social interaction, connection, and community while making music. Elle McAndrews is a Canadian singer-songwriter and pop artist from Calgary. She blends soul, pop, and rock influences in her music. The Community Concert Music Series is open to the public and is free to attend.

Walking & Wellness Groups - Don't forget there is a walking group that meets at Kinsmen Park on Fridays, starting June 18, if you would like to walk in company. And a new group will start in July, for people wanting to work towards wellness while enjoying nature. I'll include more information next week.

 

Lunch 'n Learn in the County - The next, and last date, for the spring will be Friday, June 19, and the topic of the day is 'The Great Brain Relay'. That sounds fun! STRATHMORE MUNICIPAL POLICING REPORT 
QUARTER 4 and Year End Report

We are pleased to share the Policing Crime statistics for July as well as the year end Town and Rural Reports for in our area presented to the Executive by RCMP Liaison, Staff Sgt. Mark Wielgosz at our August meeting.  We were all pleased to note that crime rates have dropped but efforts continue to reduce vehicle theft.  The community is encouraged to report any unusual behaviour via the non-emergency number 403-934-3968.  You never know when the information may be of assistance!

Strathmore Country Garden Club, next meeting Tuesday 7:00pm December 2nd, Strathmore Legion Veterans Hall.
